Subject image sizing

If the image processing is slow on your system scaling the image will help. There's no need to have huge subject images with a bazillion pixels.

Our painting skills are not that good! Maybe 1080px wide or less. Experiment a little.

My camera naturally delivers images that are 6000 x 4000 (24MP) which is way more than I need. I sometimes reduce them to about 25% before loading them without any loss to the final painting.

Sometimes I don't. It's not that slow. It is only the filtering at the very beginning of the project that can be a bit slow and once we're settled on the filters we're going to stick with the results are cached.

Instagram doesn't think any images ever have to be more than 1080px wide 😬.
